Leeds United supporters have been left stunned by the latest twist in their attempts to sign Sheffield United star Gus Hamer.

This comes after Leeds officially denied offering the Blades a swap deal involving Joel Piroe in their attempts to sign Hamer.

There had been suggestions that the Sheffield United man has been unsettled by Leeds’ interest – and fans are insisting the new story has come in an attempt to unsettle Piroe.

Chris Wilder has been vocal in his determination to keep Hamer at the club despite interest from Daniel Farke’s side.

Leeds’ interest in Hamer had seen the Blades’ boss hit out publically in a recent press conference, leaving fans in hysterics at his anger towards the club.

However, it appears the interest is genuine despite their denial of the Piroe rumours, and things may still change before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Piroe had an underwhelming first season at Elland Road last time out, but remains a key part of Farke’s first-team plans for the coming season.

The club’s pursuit of Hamer comes after losing Georginio Rutter to Brighton, with the attacking midfield role in need of strengthening.

However, the publicised nature of the transfer may cause issues, and the club have now been forced to address ongoing rumours.

As a result, fans were left laughing at Wilder once more, labelling him “pathetic” while insisting that there are now “mind games” ongoing between the two sides in the closing stages of the window.

However, others opted to entertain the idea that Piroe might leave, insisting Leeds should make the offer after all, while suggesting alternative deals.
