Leeds United fans tear into Illan Meslier as new Sky footage analysed

Leeds United fans want Illan Meslier sold this summer after his “woeful” performance against Middlesbrough on Monday night (22 April).

Daniel Farke’s side took a huge step in their promotion chase as they finally returned to winning ways with a 4-3 win against Michael Carrick’s Boro at the Riverside Stadium.

A brace from Crysencio Summerville and strikes from Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto secured all three points on the road, but their French shot-stopper did little to help his side get the win.

Sky Sports footage showed Meslier, 24, make two major errors for Boro’s first and third goals and his positioning and decision-making have been called into question.

Leeds fans want ‘liability’ Meslier out after Middlesbrough display

He rushed out far too quickly and put his backline under unneeded pressure in the buildup to Isaiah Jones’ seventh-minute opener, leaving the Middlesbrough ace with all the net to aim at.

Then, Meslier’s positioning for Boro’s third goal was widely slaughtered as he was caught in no man’s land before Emmanuel Latte Lath scored a delightful but perfectly savable looped header in the 87th minute to make it 4-3 and give Leeds a major scare for the remainder of the game.

The goalkeeper’s performances have often been criticised by the Elland Road faithful throughout the season, but his latest outing looks to be the final straw for many.

Supporters have taken to social media to bash Meslier’s “genuinely terrible” display, and many now feel his time at Leeds must come to an end soon.
