Leeds United ‘fire sale’: Kieran Maguire verdict on Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray moves

Leeds United will not be forced to sell Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray at discounted prices during the summer transfer window.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that 49ers Enterprises can cover operating costs and avoid a “fire sale” situation.

Leeds published their 2022-23 accounts in full to Companies House last Tuesday (9 April) revealing a club record turnover of £189million but an overall loss of £34million.

It follows losses of £36.7million in their 2021-22 accounts which could spell trouble for the club’s PSR calculations next season if they suffer losses again during their promotion push.

Both Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray have been standout performers for Leeds this campaign and the duo were respectively named the Championship Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season this week.

Leeds United will avoid ‘fire sale’ this summer despite losses

As revealed by Football Insider, Leeds are braced for multiple bids for Gray if they are not promoted this season.

Maguire has reassured Leeds fans that their club is under no pressure to sell their star duo at a discounted price this summer.

The likes of Summerville and Archie Gray, who have been outstanding for Leeds this season, are bound to attract interest,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The good news for Leeds fans is that there is little evidence that the club will be put into a fire sale situation.

The 49ers enterprises should have the resources to pay the working capital requirements of the club, but it will be slightly more challenging meeting some of the outstanding transfer fees that are due.

But at least the club doesn’t have to sell before the 30th of June at discounted prices in order to comply with PSR.
