Leeds United get extra £62m – new paperwork filed
Leeds United managed to cut their wage bill by almost £62million last season following their relegation to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider.
The Yorkshire giants have released their latest accounts for 2023-24, revealing their overall turnover fell from £189.7million in 2022-23 to £127.6million.
That was driven by a £57.9million drop in broadcast revenue, which fell from £111.5million to £53.6million last season as a result of the relegation.
Matchday income at Elland Road improved from £29.9million to £30.6million, while commercial revenue slipped from £48.2million to £43.3million across the same period.
Leeds’ losses increased from £33.7million to £60.8million in 2023-24 as they continue to toe the financial fair play (FFP) line.
The west Yorkshire club spent £38.2million on new signings as Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, Karl Darlow and Sam Byram all joined permanently, with Djed Spence, Jaidon Anthony, Connor Roberts and Joe Rodon spending time on loan at Elland Road.
However, Leeds did manage to cut their wage bill from £145.9million to £84million last season, marking a £61.9million saving on their salary expenditure.

Illan Meslier blasted after Leeds promotion blow
Leeds missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last season after suffering Wembley heartache in the play-off final against Southampton.
Daniel Farke’s side are in the mix again this season as they currently sit second in the Championship table, but they are level on points with third-place Burnley heading into the final seven games of the campaign.
Illan Meslier was blamed for Leeds dropping points against Swansea City on Saturday (29 March) following two errors from the goalkeeper.
Brenden Aaronson and Wilfried Gnonto twice put Leeds ahead, but a Harry Darling strike and an injury-time equaliser from Zan Vipotnik ensured it ended 2-2 at Elland Road.

Leeds confirm ticket price hike despite promotion uncertainty
Leeds have confirmed a significant ticket price hike for next season despite not knowing which division they will be playing in, with some adult rates rising by up to 14 per cent.
If Farke’s side remain in the Championship next season, an adult ticket will increase from a starting point of £18.87 per game to £21.52 for the 23 matches.
Meanwhile, a return to the Premier League will see prices rise to £26.05 per game for the 19 fixtures, with the lowest-priced adult season ticket increasing from £434 this season to £495 for 2025-26.
Ticket prices are continuing to soar across the country as clubs look to improve their matchday revenue and respond to the rise in inflation.
Football Insider revealed on 13 December Premier League ticket prices are set to skyrocket over the coming years despite protests from fans.
