Leeds United hatch plan to keep Archie Gray – sources

Leeds United are set to do “everything they can” to keep academy product Archie Gray at the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider tonight.

The Whites are expecting offers for the teenager, and other key players, in the summer transfer window after falling short in the play-off final against Southampton at Wembley on Sunday (26 May).

Gray is one of the most in-demand assets at Leeds in the off-season after his rise to prominence at Elland Road this season.

Sources say the Yorkshire giants are set to launch a bid to keep him at his boyhood club – putting him at the centre of their plan to gain promotion back to the Premier League next season.

The 18-year-old made 52 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 47 of those outings.

He primarily played as a right-back but also starred in midfield for Daniel Farke’s side.

Leeds want teenage sensation Gray to stay despite major interest

Gray is under contract at Elland Road until June 2028 after signing a contract extension in January 2024.

The England Under-21 international is part of a family dynasty at Leeds – with uncle Eddie playing 577 times for the club.

But Leeds are susceptible to big-money offers this summer, with the Yorkshire giants now face a growing need to sell players in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (26 May) that the Whites must recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales after failing to gain promotion.

Archie Gray joins Tottenham

Sources told Football Insider in March that Tottenham have joined the likes of Liverpool in the race to sign Gray.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been linked with a potential move for the teenager.
