Kieran Maguire: Leeds United have been ‘very, very busy’ as new deal agreed

The Leeds United commercial department have been “very, very busy” since promotion to the Premier League and will continue to attract interest from sponsors because of their fanbase.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the West Yorkshire side’s latest deal.

Leeds announced on Thursday (15 December) that they have partnered with TransferMate, a global payment infrastructure platform.

The Ireland-based firm have become the club’s 18th official partner

Leeds raked in £35.8million in commercial income during 2020-21 and that figure is expected to rise when they release their accounts for the following season, their third since promotion in 2018-19, by the end of March next year.

Maguire saluted the work of the team in charge of sponsorship and merchandising at Elland Road.

Leeds’ commercial department have been very, very busy, especially since the club was promoted,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

They have leveraged the fact that it is a one-club city and has a very passionate and large support base. That is the case both in the UK and overseas.

I think that’s reflected in the number of deals they have signed but also the level of interest from the likes of TransferMate.

These are companies that aren’t necessarily prepared to pay what they have been quoted by Champions League clubs.

“Leeds are certainly among the best of the rest. Therefore, that makes them popular with sponsors.
