‘Leeds United in chaos after new Daniel Farke sack twist’

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has ended speculation over Daniel Farke‘s future by confirming he will remain as boss in a major twist.

The decision came after days of uncertainty over whether the 48-year-old would get the chance to lead the Whites into the Premier League after winning the Championship title.

Leeds are spinning a number of plates ahead of their return to the top flight – with a stadium expansion recently announced and the club searching for a new CEO following Angus Kinnear’s departure.

The Yorkshire giants’ owners, 49ers Enterprises, are also in advanced negotiations to agree a majority takeover at Scottish giants Rangers.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has insisted there is “too much going on at Leeds right now” as they plot their Premier League return.

Farke sack would have meant ‘too much change’ at Leeds, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed sacking Farke and bedding another manager in would have been “too much change” to sustain.

Leeds are also planning a big revolution in the squad, with Football Insider revealing on Monday (5 May) that they have set their sights on 10 new signings this summer.

Wyness insisted Marathe and his decision makers have “made the right choice”.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The chairman announced Farke will stay, he’s come out in full support.

“It would’ve been very cruel to sack him after winning the Championship title.

“There is too much going on at Leeds right now. There’s the stadium redevelopment, the CEO is leaving, the Rangers deal – it’s a lot of moving parts.

“To have a new manager coming in and trying to bed in would be too much change.

“I think Farke is a decent enough manager to have a chance of surviving. The squad are behind him, they’re playing for him.

“He knows it will be a tough challenge.

“Leeds have got enough challenges right now – I think they made the right choice.”

Leeds line up four midfielder signings

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (8 May) that Leeds are plotting moves for two central midfielders and two wingers this summer.

They will have a budget of £150million to spend when the window opens next month.

One target is Manor Solomon, with Leeds keen to make his loan permanent by agreeing a deal with Tottenham when the window opens.
