'Rather concede 10', 'Horrendous' - Leeds fans react to one incident in defeat to Sheffield Wednesday

By Russell Edge

Leeds United fans have taken to social media to react to central defender Pontus Jansson being stretchered off during the club’s 3-0 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

The Whites were easily dispatched by the Owls at Hillsborough thanks to a first half double from Gary Hooper, while Keiran Lee added a third with less than 10 minutes to play to secure victory.

However manager Thomas Christiansen’sdisappointment would have been compounded after he saw key defender Jansson leave the pitch via a stretcher after a collision with team mate Kalvin Phillips.

What appeared to be a miscommunication in defence led to Phillips clattering into Jansson and leaving the duo floored, but it was the centre back who came off worse as he was stretchered off clutching his shoulder.

Supporters turned to Twitter to voice their concern about the end of his match, and they will be hoping that he can recover over the upcoming two week international break.

The injury could be a devastating blow for Leeds, with Jansson having played a key role with eight league appearances to his name this season, all coming in the starting XI.

Christiansen has Matthew Pennington, who started on Sunday, Conor Shaughnessy and Liam Cooper available at centre back, with the latter having served his one match suspension after being sent off against Cardiff.
