Leeds United may have already found Raphinha replacement after source’s Ryan Kent update – pundit

Kevin Campbell has suggested Ryan Kent could be a potential replacement for Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old has been a “real star” for Rangers.

An Elland Road source told Football Insider last week (24 March) that Leeds United are continuing to monitor Kent ahead of the summer window.

This site exclusively revealed in September 2020 that Kent has a £20million release clause in his current contract – which is set to expire in May 2023.

Meanwhile, Whites star Raphinha has been extensively linked with Barcelona ahead of a potential summer move.

The former Rennes winger is Leeds United’s top scorer this season with nine goals.

When asked if Kent could fill the void left by the Brazillian’s potential exit, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think so.

“No disrespect to Rangers, but they just can’t compete with the Premier League – money-wise.

“He’s done a great job up there under Steven Gerrard and now Giovanni van Bronckhorst, he’s been a real star.

“If Leeds look at him as the one who can come in and take that Raphinha role, with Dan James moving over to the right, then I think that would be very good business.”

Kent has notched three goals and 15 assists across 35 appearances in an injury-hit 2021/22 campaign.

Leeds United sit 16th in the Premier League and could move 10 points clear of the drop with a win over Southampton on Saturday (2 April).
