Leeds United news: ‘Huge’ transfer claim issued after significant Victor Orta reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Leeds United have solved a “huge problem” by signing Rasmus Kristensen from RB Salzburg.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also claimed the Whites have proven their pulling power by winning the race for the 24-year-old.

Speaking after Kristensen’s arrival was confirmed on Wednesday (8 June), director of football Victor Orta revealed Leeds fought off interest from “teams playing in the Champions League” to secure his signing.

The Athletic (8 June) claim Borussia Dortmund were leading the hunt for the right-back but that Orta made last-minute moves to get him to Elland Road.

Hutton admitted Leeds have suffered an injury “nightmare” over the past 12 months.

He suggested Kristensen could put an end to their struggles in defence.

“Dortmund are a top, top side, as we know,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“But Leeds are a huge club in the Premier League. I think if they do get it right under Jesse Marsch and that way he wants to play, the right players within the system, there’s an opportunity there for them to obviously progress and move forward.

“I think injuries have been a huge problem for them over the last couple of seasons. For whatever reason, they seem to pick up big injuries. There have been parts of the season where it’s just been a nightmare for them.

“To bring in reinforcements in the right areas, at the back, where they always seem to pick injuries up, is only going to make them better.”
