Leeds United deal collapses – sources
Leeds United’s bid to sign Tottenham defender Joe Rodon is set to collapse, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Rodon is likely to join a Premier League club after spending last season on loan at Elland Road.
Football Insider revealed on 17 June Spurs are looking to sell Rodon this summer and will accept a £10million bid for his services.
Premier League newcomers Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton all hold an interest in the 26-year-old after beating Leeds to promotion last season.
Daniel Farke’s side have maintained contact with Tottenham over a permanent deal for Rodon and made it clear to the player they want to sign him full-time.
But they are now unlikely to be able to meet Rodon’s valuation this summer due to the club’s financial situation.
The Wales international is under contract with Tottenham until 2026, but he is expected to be sold before the end of the transfer window.
Joe Rodon to join Premier League side after Leeds United loan
Rodon enjoyed a successful loan spell with Leeds after making 50 appearances across all competitions last season.
The defender quickly emerged as a fans’ favourite at Elland Road, but he was unable to help the club secure an immediate return to the Premier League following their play-off final defeat against Southampton.
Leeds would have stood had a strong chance of landing Rodon if they had achieved promotion, but he is now expected to join a top-flight club over the coming weeks.

The Welshman is unlikely to be the only key figure not lining up for Farke’s side next season after several of their star players have been linked with a move away from Elland Road in recent weeks.
Football Insider revealed last month Leeds must recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales after failing to gain promotion.
