Leeds United news: Kalvin Phillips is set to switch agents and force Elland Road move – Mills

Danny Mills has dropped the bombshell news that Kalvin Phillips is switching agents as he looks to force a move from Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England full-back has learned Phillips is parting ways with his current agent as he sets his sights on playing Champions League club football and Leeds .

The major agencies have been circling the 26-year-old midfielder for some time with his long-term future up in the air.

He is currently represented by former Leeds player Kevin Sharp who tweeted on Monday (28 February) he thought Marcelo Bielsa would keep the club in the Premier League.

Bielsa was replaced by Jesse Marsch the same day who got off to a losing start with a 1-0 loss to Leicester City yesterday (5 March).

Asked whether Marsch’s arrival could have an impact on Phillips’ future, the well-connected former Leeds star Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I doubt it, in all honesty.

“We’re into March now, I’m sure agents will have been talking to different people.

“From what I’m told, Kalvin Phillips is just about to change or has changed agents as well. That doesn’t particularly suggest staying and signing a new deal. Why would you not stick with the same one? Maybe you can read too much into that.

“He will have an idea on what he wants to do and his ambitions.

“Kalvin has been a fantastic servant to Leeds but when he’s in and around the England side and sees them all playing in the Champions League, how long is it going to be before Leeds get there?

“You can say it’s the owner’s ambition to get there but it is still going to take for or five seasons to do it. Kalvin hasn’t got that long to wait, in all honesty.”
