Leeds United news: Pundit drops ‘huge’ Daniel Farke claim after ‘brilliant’ development
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke must be considered for Championship Manager of the Season for closing the “huge” gap on Leicester City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that the German would be many fans’ top choice after his “outstanding” work in recent weeks.
Much of the Elland Road faithful believed the Foxes’ double-figure gap at the top of the table would be insurmountable, but a 13-game unbeaten run has put them top of the league on goal difference.
Leicester do have a game in hand over the Whites, but their questionable form has given Leeds fresh confidence that they can immediately return to the Premier League as champions of the second tier.
Daniel Farke has been “outstanding” for Leeds United
Hutton admitted that Leeds’ exceptional squad gives them a major advantage, but was adamant Farke’s work deserves recognition.
“Farke has to be up there for Manager of the Season,” he told Football Insider.
“He will definitely be in the conversation and probably at the front of a lot of people’s minds.
“Considering how far behind Leicester they were to where they are now, it’s huge.
“If you look at the run of form they’ve been on and their record at home, it’s been brilliant, absolutely crazy.
“That being said, he’s got a great squad there.
“If you look through the starting line-up and even the bench, they’re very strong.

“If they go up they will have to reinvest to go again.
“But he has to be in that conversation and in the running because he’s done an outstanding job.”
