Leeds United news: Pundit drops ‘huge’ Daniel Farke sack verdict

Daniel Farke is the man to “bring Leeds forward” even if they don’t secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton did warn that Whites chiefs could be forced into a decision if they remain in the Championship but was adamant that Farke, 47, can achieve the club’s long-term goals.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (30 April) that the hierarchy at Elland Road has “no thoughts” of parting with the boss even if promotion eludes them.

The Whites’ 4-0 thrashing against QPR on Friday (26 April) proved to be a major dent in their automatic promotion hopes after second-placed Ipswich Town’s 2-1 win against Coventry City on Tuesday (30 April).

Farke has been ‘huge’ job for Leeds despite late-season struggles

Farke’s side now depend on the Tractor Boys to lose to 23rd-place Huddersfield Town and for them to beat Southampton on the final day of the season if they want to sneak into second place.

While the final stretch of the campaign has been a disappointment, Hutton hailed Farke for the “brilliant” job he has done in his debut campaign at Elland Road.

“I think Farke is the man to bring Leeds forward, 100 per cent,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s done a huge job there in his first season.

“You could probably say that Leicester City deserved to go up as champions considering how far ahead they were before their little blip.

“Leeds have been a constant threat to the top teams and they will continue to grow.

“We’ll wait and see if Leeds go up or not – the board’s plans might change if they stay down.

“But Farke has done a brilliant job.”
