Leeds United news: Pundit taken aback by Daniel Farke after ‘crazy’ development
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke “will win” Championship Manager of the Season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie was adamant that Farke, 47, would clinch the coveted prize after his “crazy” first season at Elland Road.
It was confirmed that the German had been shortlisted along with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Hull City’s Liam Rosenior for the award, with the winner set to be announced next Sunday (14 April).
The EFL cited Leeds’ unbeaten status at home as a key reason for his nomination, with the Whites currently well-placed for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Farke deserves Manager of the Season for his “crazy” Leeds spell
McAvennie also suggested that many Leeds stars will be in line for recognition but claimed the “spirit and determination” ushered in by the boss means he deserves the ultimate prize.
“He will win Championship Manager of the Season,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t think there will be a problem with that at all.
“Half his team will be in the Team of the Year too.
“When you go on a run like that and you’re organised and disciplined, you deserve it.
“There’s a couple of teams who have been like that but they’ve fallen away.
“Leeds seem to be holding their own against every team, it’s just absolutely crazy.
“Leicester had the chance to beat them a couple of weeks ago and they failed because Leeds came back.
“The title looked like it was going to be a landslide for Leicester, but Leeds fought right back.
“You can tell that the club have a togetherness and when you have that spirit and determination, it’s for sure.

“People keep talking about momentum, but I say it’s from their enjoyment.
“If you enjoy your work, you’re better at it, and Farke is clearly enjoying it.”
