Kalvin Phillips has agreed terms on a double-your-money contract with Man City as he finalises a move from Leeds United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Premier League champions are in the final stages of capturing the 26-year-old after reaching a full agreement on the deal.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Phillips has agreed the terms of a City deal worth around £150,000-a-week.

Leeds United

It will double the wages of his current Leeds deal, which is due to expire in the summer of 2024.

This comes after City reached an agreement with Leeds on the fee for Phillips of £42million rising to a potential £45m with add-ons.

It will mean the England midfielder becoming their second marquee signing of the summer following the capture of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

West Ham and Villa have also tried to land the central midfielder by tabling offers, but have missed out to the greater allure of the champions.

Pep Guardiola is a "huge" admirer of Phillips, the source added, and has made it clear at City how much he wants him in his revamped team next season.

Losing Phillips is a devastating blow to his home-town club, where he has graduated from the youth ranks to be the poster boy of their best team in two decades.

Phillips made only 20 Premier League appearances among 26 in all competitions in 2021-22 after being struck down by a hamstring injury in early December.

The one-club man will depart after making 234 total appearances for his home-town club.
