Gabriel Agbonlahor has been left in awe of Leeds United winger Raphinha after his match-winning display against Everton on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed the Brazilian played a key role as the Whites “battered” the Toffees.
Raphinha scored the only goal of the game as the Yorkshire giants recorded their first win in four Premier League games.
It was just his second start since his £18million move from Rennes in October and his performance drew praise from manager Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine said after the game: “He’s a player who has adapted very quickly to the Premier League.
“He’s a player who can unbalance, who’s potent, who moves all around the pitch and has the capacity to unbalance from everywhere.”
Asked by Football Insider what he made of Raphinha’s impact at Leeds, Agbobnlahor said: “He looked very good.
“Leeds were very good, let’s be honest they battered Everton.
“They were too strong for them, they were too aggressive and Everton were quite poor as well.
“I like the way he gets the ball and runs at defenders, he was a threat all game.
“It was hard for Alex Iwobi because he didn’t know the position and he left Raphinha and he was one-on-one with Holgate that ended up being a good chance for Leeds.”
Raphinha has now played five times for Leeds and featured in six Ligue 1 games for Rennes before crossing the channel.
The 23-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in 13 games across all competitions in England and France this term.
In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has admitted he got it wrong about a “brave” youngster with amazing stats.
