Leeds United predicted XI v Blackburn Rovers – Bamford axed, 20-yr-old starts

Leeds United will be desperate to get their Championship promotion bid back on track when they meet Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (13 April).

After a superb start to 2024, the Whites are on a poor run of form after losing 2-1 to Coventry and drawing 0-0 with Sunderland.

Elland Road hosts their next league game against Rovers, with Daniel Farke certain to make changes to his side after the disappointing stalemate with the Black Cats.

Football Insider predicts Farke’s starting XI for the match at Elland Road as Leeds aim to get back to winning ways.

Defence

One highlight from the recent draw was the clean sheet, with Illan Meslier crucial as he made three saves, with another start set to go his way against Blackburn.

Junior Firpo should also continue at left-back after he impressed with three of four aerial duels won and a Leeds-high of four tackles against the Black Cats.

The rest of the defence is also expected to remain the same, with Archie Gray at right-back and Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu in central defence.

Midfield

Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara should continue in midfield for Farke, with the duo capable of winning the battle in that area against a struggling Blackburn side.

Attack

Farke may, however, be forced into changing his attack, namely due to their struggles to find the back of the net last time out, but also to keep his squad fresh.

The in-form Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter could be trusted once more from the start, but 20-year-old star Wilfried Gnonto could come in for Dan James, with Joel Piroe potentially replacing Patrick Bamford from the first whistle.

Bamford fired another blank against Sunderland, with the striker also losing four of his 11 duels and failing to have a shot on target.
