Leeds United signing destroyed on Sky Sports after ‘bang average’ performance vs Fulham

Leeds United’s have experienced a mixed bag of form to start their Premier League campaign this season, and one new signing has been slated for his early form.

Leeds began their Premier League return with a win at home to Everton, but a heavy loss to Arsenal saw Daniel Farke’s side pegged back down to earth.

A draw against Newcastle United ahead of the international break gave Leeds fans a reason to be positive coming out of the international break.

Farke has faced heavy criticism from pundits for his approach in the early days of the season, after guiding his side to promotion last season.

An agonising 1-0 loss to Fulham, due to a Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal left Leeds searching for more answers, as they slipped down the table on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds new signing slammed

Leeds struggled to attract names into the club in the transfer window, with Farke being left frustrated as two key targets slipped away late in the summer window.

One of Leeds’ new signings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, was slammed for his performance during Fulham’s 1-0 win over Farke’s side.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Michael Dawson said: “He was bang average, bang average. They didn’t create a lot for him but when that chance comes to you you need to take it and he wasn’t good.”

Calvert-Lewin was a free agent this summer after being released by Everton and will hope to regain his best form this season at Elland Road.

Leeds United look set to struggle

Leeds, like Burnley and Sunderland, have won a Premier League match much earlier than any of the newly promoted sides did in the last two seasons.

However, out of the three sides, Leeds have looked the weakest so far on their return to England’s top flight.

Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have been bereft of service when Leeds have gone forward and it doesn’t look like Farke’s side are capable of creating many clear cut chances for their forwards.

With Sunderland investing heavily, and Burnley building on their solid defensive base from last season, it appears that Leeds look set to be the weakest newly promoted side in this season’s relegation battle.
