Leeds United star trio set to leave – ‘Can’t blame them’, says pundit
Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter will exit the club this summer if Leeds United are not promoted.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie claimed it is “inevitable” that the trio will leave Elland Road as they will have plenty of clubs “sniffing around” for their services.
All three stars have been important players for Daniel Farke’s side during their promotion-chasing campaign having made 57 goal contributions between them in the Championship.
However, the Whites’ automatic promotion chances look bleaker after they secured just one point from their last three games, leaving them one point below second-place Leicester City who have a game in hand.
Leeds United superstar trio to leave this summer?
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (16 February) that both Summerville, 22, and Gnonto, 20, are expected to gain interest from Premier League sides in the summer.
Rutter, 21, and Summerville both landed spots on the Championship Team of the Season, while the latter was also named the league’s best player.
McAvennie suggested that the trio would not want to spend another season on the second tier and admitted that he “couldn’t blame” them for desiring to return to the top flight.
“There’s a couple of players in that Leeds team that people will be sniffing around for,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s inevitable.
“Players like Summerville, Gnonto and Rutter – they’re not going to stay another year after getting so close to promotion this year.

“If they have a chance to move on, they’ll take it.
“You can’t really blame them either – it just depends on whether they go up.”
