Hutton makes 'huge' Leeds new signing claim as he calls out multiple stars 'not up to scratch'
Leeds United have a strong first XI but their squad is not “up to scratch” – they must address this in the transfer market immediately.
So says ex-Premier League right-back Alan Hutton speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Leeds’ 5-1 drubbing against Man United on Saturday.
Debutant Junior Firpo as well Tyler Roberts and Helder Costa were all introduced off the bench in the second half.
Besides Firpo, Leeds have added goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson and 18-year-old defender Lewis Bate to their ranks this summer.
Jack Harrison, who spent the last three seasons on loan at Elland Road, also signed permanently.
But Hutton claims Leeds need to take further action before the window shuts to deepen the quality in the squad.

“Their starting XI players are very strong,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“But if you’re going into the squad, it isn’t going to be like-for-like in terms of quality.
“When Kalvin Phillips doesn’t play, they aren’t the same team. They haven’t got that figure to come in and play that role.
“This transfer window, it’s about bringing in, not just squad players, but players who are going to make the first team better.
“That’s going to be difficult because the boys that are coming off the bench don’t seem to be up to scratch to the same standard as the starting XI.
“It’s all well and good Bielsa saying he likes to work with a small squad, but that’s if they are all fit.
“If you have two or three injuries over the course of the season, you have to be able to rely on the squad.
“Leeds were amazing last season but you have to add quality to the squad. That new signing is huge for them. They have to reinvest and they have to do it soon. I think they will.“
