Leeds United told £30m Kalvin Phillips bid could be accepted

Leeds United will need to spend “big money” to re-sign Kalvin Phillips, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Man City will want in the region of £30-£40million for the midfielder.

He added that Leeds and other interested clubs will, however, find an issue when it comes to the player’s wages due to his lucrative deal in Manchester.

The 28-year-old is currently on loan at West Ham from Man City, with nine Hammers appearances to his name in all competitions.

Leeds United need to offer lucrative deal to land midfield man

Sources have told Football Insider (3 April) that West Ham will not make his loan spell in East London permanent this summer.

O’Rourke believes the Hammers were once interested in such a move, given how much he is admired by David Moyes, but have since changed their mind given his struggles in claret and blue.

Phillips joined Man City from the Whites on a six-year deal in July 2022, but has played just 31 matches for the Manchester club.

The midfielder is expected to return to the Etihad for pre-season, with the Manchester club aiming to recoup as much money as possible if they were to sell him this summer.
