Leeds United told to complete near-£10m signing of Illan Meslier replacement – pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed signing Dominik Livakovic for £9million is a “no-brainer” for Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said £9m is a “steal” for a “big” player.

According to French outlet Media Foot (12 December), the Whites are interested in the 27-year-old whose contract expires in 2024.

The report claims that it will take an offer of around £9m to take Livakovic away from Dinamo Zagreb..

The Croatian impressed at the World Cup and helped his side secure a third place finish in Qatar.

Current number one shot stopper Ilan Meslier is contracted at Elland Road until 2026 but there has been growing speculation around his future at the Yorkshire club.

When asked if £9m is too expensive for Leeds, Hutton told Football Insider:I do not think so.

I think with the money that has been splashed about in the English Premier League, £9m is a bit of a steal.

They have got Meslier who I think is an excellent goalkeeper, we do not really know what his future holds.

Leeds United

Like every other team, they have to have a plan of who can come in. He was excellent for Croatia, some big saves in some big moments. He can obviously deal with the high pressure side of the game.

So it would be a no-brainer if they could get somebody in for that price.
