Leeds United told to finalise Lee Bowyer deal after source’s update today – pundit

Leeds United have been told to pull the plug on Daniel Farke talks and instead appoint a manager who has strong ties to the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie believes that Lee Bowyer would be a good appointment for the Whites.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (24 June) that the Whites want to make an appointment in the next week as pre-season approaches.

The Yorkshire giants are still without a permanent successor for Sam Allardyce despite having just days remaining before the players return for pre-season training.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Thursday that ex-Norwich City boss Farke is in advanced talks to become the club’s new manager.

With a managerial appointment on the horizon, McAvennie believes that Leeds should look to hire a manager who has previously been employed by the club.

“They should hire a profile similar to Lee Bowyer,” He told Football Insider.

“He played for the club, he has them in his heart and a manager like that is what they would need to get back into the Premier League.

“Give someone like Bowyer a chance, and the fans would love one of their own to come in and they would show the passion needed on matchdays.

“Similar to Duncan Ferguson at Everton a couple years back, that helped them reignite the season.

“It is a worrying situation for Leeds as I would not like to see them go back into oblivion again as they are a Premier League club.”
