Leeds United transfer news: Pundit shares ‘huge’ Wilfried Gnonto claim after confession

Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto would be a “nightmare” for defenders in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Rangers defender Alan Hutton hailed the Italian’s performances and was adamant that the Whites would want to keep him regardless of whether they get promoted back to the Premier League.

After trying to force a move away from Elland Road last summer, Gnonto recently admitted that he is “really happy” at Leeds as he is “finally showing” what he is capable of.

Despite not being a nailed-on starter for Daniel Farke, the 20-year-old has still bagged eight goals and two assists in all competitions this season – with six goals coming in his last nine league outings.

Leeds United want to keep “nightmare” Wilfried Gnonto

Hutton admitted that Gnonto’s future at Leeds would depend on the club’s transfer policy this summer, but believes he is more than capable of thriving on his potential return to the top flight.

“I think he can be huge for them in the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.

“He has all the attributes and I think from my point of view as a defender, he’d be a nightmare to play against.

“He’s quick, he’s strong, he can score a goal and he’s clever.

“He ticks all the boxes.

“I understand from his point of view that it can be difficult if your confidence isn’t high, but he seems to have brought that back.

“He’s showing what he’s capable of.

“I think Leeds will want to keep him whether they go up or not.

“It’s really going to fall down to where they see their future.

“Will they bring in another player?

“But he fits the bill to help them kick on in the Premier League.”
