Leeds United transfer news: Ten stars likely to leave this summer

Leeds United could be facing a major overhaul of their squad next season with many stars looking likely to depart.

The Whites have a swathe of on-loan stars who could be sold to bolster their transfer kitty, while they also have multiple players in the current squad with contracts set to expire.

Daniel Farke’s promotion-chasing side also have plenty of quality players in their ranks that could be sold for big fees amid interest from Premier League giants.

In light of the latest developments on Leeds’ stars and new information from sources, Football Insider has analysed 10 players who are likely to exit Elland Road this summer.

Sam Byram

The left-back’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season after he penned a one-year deal last summer when his Norwich City deal ended.

He has filled in admirably while Junior Firpo has been out but has had his fair share of spells in the injury room himself.

If the Whites achieve an expected promotion, they could be tempted to reduce their wage bill and snap up a stronger option in their efforts to stay in the league.

Jack Harrison

Leeds fans were furious when Harrison departed for Everton last summer and he would have to endear himself to supporters should he return.

Everton

However, sources have told Football Insider (25 February) that he wants a permanent move to the Toffees this summer and does not want to come back to Leeds – even if they achieve promotion.

The club will likely look to get him off their books permanently, and they have an abundance of attacking talent who have more than filled his boots this season.

A deal all depends on Everton’s funds and their own top-flight status, but the latest information from sources is that Harrison is likely to depart Elland Road regardless of him securing a permanent move to Goodison Park.

Max Wober

The Austrian was sent out on loan to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, but sources have told Football Insider (14 March) that Leeds will green-light his departure if an appropriate offer comes their way.

He has been a mainstay for the German side having made 21 league starts, which could open the door for his exit this summer.

Wober is under contract at Elland Road until 2027, meaning the club would expect to fetch a decent fee after his reported £11million move from RB Salzburg in January 2023.

Brenden Aaronson

Aaronson has struggled out on loan at Union Berlin this season, meaning he would be unlikely to feature for Leeds should they return to the Premier League.

Well-placed sources have also told Football Insider (5 March) that he has no future at Leeds and they fully expect him to depart for a new club in the summer – permanently or on another loan move.

The American’s debut Premier League campaign last season with the Whites left a lot to be desired, so it is unlikely that he will feature in Farke’s plans going forward.

Stuart Dallas

The veteran defender has been a mainstay in past seasons for the Whites, but his growing age and continued injury woes put his Leeds future in major doubt.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and would struggle to make an impact in the Premier League again, meaning the club would likely look to get him off the wage bill after his nine-year spell.

Leeds United

Liam Cooper

Another ageing star whose contract is set to expire this summer, Cooper has been unsuccessful in stringing together a run of games this season.

Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have kept him out of the side with their incredible outings at centre-back, so his future as a potential Premier League player looks bleak.

Fans will always salute the 32-year-old for his 10-year service to the club but now seems like the time for him to make an exit.

Cody Drameh

Football Insider revealed (16 March) that the Birmingham City loanee is not set to receive a contract extension and has played his last game for the club.

He was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the season and it is believed that the Blues could make his loan spell permanent this summer when his deal expires.

Drameh’s is surely set to be away from the Yorkshire giants.

Joe Gelhardt

The 21-year-old was wanted on loan by multiple Championship clubs in the summer, but Leeds may be regretting their decision to keep him this season following his lack of minutes.

With just 172 minutes of Championship action this season, Gelhardt is clearly not a top option for Farke.

He did bag in the League Cup against Shrewsbury Town back in September and would likely attract plenty of interest this summer.

However, it seems unlikely that he can have an impact at Leeds – especially in the Premier League.

Wilfried Gnonto

Gnonto’s summer transfer saga has been well and truly put to rest after his quality outings for Leeds this season.

Everton

While Everton looked to bring him to Goodison Park last year, interest in the Italian international is expected to be revived.

Sources have told Football Insider (16 February) that he is expected to gain interest from top-flight outfits this summer.

With eight goals in all competitions this season, the high-potential 20-year-old could make an exit from Leeds.

Marc Roca

Roca has shown his quality while out on loan with Real Betis this season and would likely have no shortage of admirers.

This would benefit Leeds, with Football Insider revealing (13 March) that the club will listen to offers from the midfielder whether they are promoted or not.

He was one of few Leeds aces to perform decently in their relegation-ending season last year, but the club will likely cut their losses and look to move him on.
