Leeds United well placed to complete ‘huge’ Nat Phillips deal – expert
Nat Phillips could prove a “huge” addition to the Leeds United squad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and Rangers defender Alan Hutton suggested that Phillips, 27, could be important for the Whites as he would add needed depth to the squad.
The defender is reportedly being targeted by Daniel Farke’s side this summer after their attempts to loan him to Elland Road last January fell through.
The Liverpool man spent an unsuccessful first half of the season out on loan to Celtic but has begun to show his best again during his six-month loan at Championship side Cardiff City
Nat Phillips set for Leeds United move this summer?
He only made eight appearances for the Hoops and was widely slaughtered by their fanbase, but has gone on to make 16 consecutive league starts for the Bluebirds since the new year.
Hutton claimed that Phillips would be eager for a permanent new club after having four separate loan spells from Anfield since 2019 and was confident Leeds could prove a good destination.
“I think Ampadu and Rodon have done excellently well this season,” he told Football Insider.
“Do they need some backup or help? Definitely.
“It’s always a good idea to strengthen the squad.
“Nat Phillips has been out on loans a lot in recent years and is probably looking to find a home where he can settle down and play some regular football.
“I think it would be a good acquisition for Leeds moving forward and it could be huge in the long run.

“It will depend on where Leeds find themselves – the Premier League or the Championship.
“That will determine who they look at moving forward.”
