Leeds United: Willy Gnonto responds as Joel Piroe hints at exit in new message
Leeds United striker Joel Piroe has taken to social media to send a message to their fans that hints at a possible departure this summer.
Piroe failed to make an impact in the Premier League for Leeds despite firing the club to promotion as the Championship’s top scorer.
The 26-year-old only managed two starts in the top flight before the 2025-26 campaign ended last week, with many fans believing that he is on his way out this summer.
Daniel Farke has refused to offer clarity over Piroe’s future ahead of the start of the transfer window, but rumours are rife as several clubs are linked to his services.
Leeds’ transfer plans are set to ramp up over the coming weeks, with Piroe now hinting at a possible imminent departure on social media.

Piroe only made three cameo appearances in Leeds’ final eight games of the season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha each ahead of him in Farke’s striker pecking order.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are open to offers for Piroe this summer, with another striker signing lined up.

The Suriname international took to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon to send a message to Whites supporters that read: “Premier League football has always been a dream. Thanks to your support, we had a great season at the highest level. Grateful for everyone who stood by us throughout the season.”
Some fans took it as a possible nod towards a departure, with one replying: “Is the caption a hint he’s going?” with a broken heart emoji.
Fellow exit-linked Leeds man Gnonto responded to Piroe’s post by saying: “Mijn broer,” with a red heart emoji, which translates to “My brother.”
Who could Piroe join if he leaves Leeds?
Piroe might have endured a tough time of things over the last nine months, but his quality in front of goal is undoubted after he was a regular scorer in the Championship with the Whites and Swansea City.
Recent reports have claimed that several second-tier clubs, such as Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Stoke City, are interested in snapping him up this summer, especially with one year left on his Leeds contract.
He was linked to Celtic in January, but that was ruled out due to the 49ers’ involvement with their rivals, and sources have told Football Insider that Piroe could join Rangers this summer instead.
