Leeds United work on left-back signing in trio of late deals – O’Rourke

Leeds United are keen to add a left-back before the end of the transfer window on 30 August, sources have told Football Insider.

Daniel Farke is prioritising a new signing on the left side of his defence before the window shuts.

Sources say that in addition to a left-back, Leeds are also prioritising deals for a striker and winger to replace the output of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.

Junior Firpo is the current first choice at Elland Road and has started in each of Leeds’ three games so far in the 2024-25 campaign.

But with the Dominican Republic international out of contract at the end of this season, the Whites are ready to sign a long-term replacement.

Football Insider revealed last month (21 July) that Leeds have made early contact over a potential deal for PEC Zwolle star Anselmo Garcia MacNulty.

Farke’s side have recently lost stars like Summerville and Rutter for big money and are now ready to focus their attention on incomings for the remainder of the window.

Leeds target left-back in addition to winger and striker deals

The Whites have versatile defender Sam Byram on the books at left-back as a backup to first-choice Firpo.

Leeds have improved on the opposite flank already this summer, bringing Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle to the club in a permanent move.

Farke’s side have started the new Championship season with two points from a possible six and have also been dumped out of the League Cup by Middlesbrough.

The Yorkshire giants are next in action against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (23 August) – one week before the transfer window shuts.
