Leeds secured a third consecutive league win on Saturday – and their fans took to Twitter to urge the club to hand Mirco Antenucci a new contract.
The Italian striker scored the Championship club’s second goal as they defeated Blackburn 2-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Antenucci lifted his tally for the season to nine league goals and he has now struck four times in their last three matches to steer the team away from the relegation zone and take the heat off manager Steve Evans.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and supporters have urged club boss Massimo Cellino to give the forward a new deal.

No doubting the class Antenucci has. By far the best finisher in Leeds squad

Antenucci MVP. Gives us something extra. Genuine bit of a threat. Give him a new contract. #LUFC

If Antenucci doesn’t get another contract it’ll be a bitter response to the protests from Massimo Cellino #lufc

Leeds’ win at Blackburn lifts the team to 12th in the Championship table and keeps alive their hopes of a top-10 finish, which is what Evans says is the team’s target for the season.
