'Would do wonders', 'I'd love to see him at Leeds' - Closet White wanted after big development

By Richard Parks

Leeds United fans have called on their club to pounce on the availability of Mick McCarthy and appoint him as their new manager at the end of the season.

United only named Paul Heckingbottom as the replacement for Thomas Christiansen at the start of last month but he has overseen only a single win in his first eight matches.

McCarthy, 59, will leave Ipswich Town when the current campaign ends after he agreed with owner Marcus Evans not to extend his contract, which expires in June.

Ipswich confirmed on their official Twitter account on Thursday that manager’s six-year spell at the helm now has eight matches remaining.

The former Sunderland, Wolves and Millwall manager has a glittering track record in the Championship, which he has won on two occasions, as well as extensive experience in the division.
