Leeds would snap at the chance to sign PL striker in January - reliable journalist

By Dominic Toner

Leeds are keen to sign a new attacker in the January transfer window and Ashley Fletcher would be an ideal signing, according to a reliable journalist.

The 21-year-old is currently struggling for minutes at West Ham and has completed 90 minutes in just three of his 14 appearances this season.

Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay has explained on his personal Twitter account that Leeds are interested in signing Fletcher this January if he is allowed to leave the London Stadium on loan.

Leeds are currently fifth-placed and are considered serious promotion candidates this season, but only have Souleymane Doukara and Chris Wood as their senior forward options.

Garry Monk has transformed the Yorkshire club into a strong side and they are keen to return to the Premier League.

West Ham have several attacking options in their squad and Fletcher has struggled for minutes this season.

They may be looking to send the youngster away from the club to help his development and Leeds ware extremely interested in him.

Football Insider verdict:

Fletcher is showing great potential at West Ham and Leeds will have the upper hand if they can guarantee him regular first-team football. The striker is unlikely to feature much for Slaven Bilic’s side during the second half of the season and the Whites should convince him to join. They could do with a larger squad if they are to achieve promotion and Fletcher would be a great addition. He scored nine goals in 26 appearances for Barnsley in League One last season and hasn’t looked out of place when used in the Premier League. Fletcher has the potential to cause some serious problems in the Championship and would offer a different dynamic to Wood or Doukara.

In other Leeds transfer news, the club’s supporters have demanded Andrea Radrizzani signs these players.
