Leicester City have matched Man City after new announcement – Wyness
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City are trying to kick their financial breach case “into the longer grass” after starting legal action.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Foxes are copying Man City’s tactics – with the Premier League champions yet to face a hearing for their 115 outstanding charges.
Last week (21 March), Leicester were charged last week with breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) over a three-year period ending in the 2022-23 season.
The Midlands club hit back by releasing a club statement on Friday (22 March) to confirm they have opened legal proceedings against the Premier League and EFL.
Leicester were also charged for failing to submit their accounts on time after missing the 31 December deadline.
Leicester City have copied Man City stalling tactics after new FFP charges, says Wyness
Enzo Maresca’s side, who sit second in the Championship, were placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think it’s a strategic situation rather than either extreme.
“I believe Leicester are trying to kick this into the longer grass as Man City have done with great success.
“I think they are trying to see whether they should get this resolved quickly while they are in the Championship. The risk of that may be too high.

“That means they would take the punishment in the Premier League, but the action Leicester have taken means we won’t get a decision any time soon.
“It seems pretty strategic, them taking legal action at this point.”
