Leicester City make Reiss Nelson transfer decision – sources
Leicester City have been priced out of a move to sign Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson after talks between the clubs, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that talks had taken place between the two clubs, but Arsenal’s £20million asking price proved too steep.
Leicester are among multiple clubs who have been put off by the Gunners’ demands, which could force them to drop their asking price.
West Ham also held interest in the winger earlier in the transfer window, but that interest has cooled as a result of Crysenico Summerville’s arrival.
However, sources at Arsenal say the club are still expecting to receive late interest in the winger, with European clubs monitoring his situation.
Arsenal must reduce asking price after Reiss Nelson after Leicester City talks
Nelson joined Arsenal’s academy setup when he was nine years old and has gone on to make 89 appearances for the club since signing his first professional deal in 2016.
Last season, however, the winger featured 24 times and started just six of those, while he averaged only 30 minutes per game.
It has become clear that he does not feature as a major part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, and the club are keen to entertain offers for him before the transfer deadline.
Arsenal will need to reduce their £20million asking price if they want to inspire interest from clubs willing to sign him on a permanent deal after putting clubs off of a move.
After both Leicester and West Ham dropped out of the running, interest in signing Nelson has faded, although clubs are monitoring his situation should the asking price drop.

Nelson has previously spent time on loan in Germany and the Netherlands with Hoffenheim and Feyenoord respectively, and European clubs are willing to give him another crack abroad.
