Leicester City plot sensational Dewsbury-Hall swoop – Insider
Leicester City are eyeing a move to re-sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea in a sensational January deal.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Foxes have been alerted to the 26-year-old’s availability.
Football Insider revealed on 7 December that Chelsea have made the midfielder available for transfer in January, just months after his arrival from the King Power.
However, a loan deal is thought to be more likely than a permanent return to Leicester as his minimum £30million price tag will prove prohibitive.
The Blues are expected to demand at least the fee they spent on Dewsbury-Hall just six months prior if they are to let him leave permanently.
Leicester, meanwhile, are thought to be keen on a return for the player who played a crucial role in their promotion from the Championship last season.
Their difficulties strengthening the position in the summer means Dewsbury-Hall would be able to step straight into the midfield in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.
Leicester City plot January loan move for Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Since his move to Chelsea in the summer, Dewsbury-Hall has started just eight games and played just 55 minutes of Premier League football, leading to speculation over his future.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that a shock return to the King Power is very much on the cards.
“There are a number of clubs interested in him,” he told Football Insider.
“And from what I’ve heard, one of those clubs is Leicester.
“He did very well during his time there, helped get them into the Premier League and earned his big-money move to Chelsea.
“It’s not quite worked out for him there, but he’s still very highly thought of.
“So if Chelsea want to offload him in January, Leicester will have been made aware of his availability.
“Even if it’s not a permanent deal, because they’ll want to make back at least the £30million they paid for him, a loan move could happen.
“He gives Leicester what they’ve been missing since he left in the summer.

“So he’s the type of player they need, and I think he’d be interested in a return as well, so it’s a deal that would work for all parties.”
