Leicester fans rage at ‘lazy’ Stephy Mavididi after he did one thing 12 times vs Middlesbrough
Leicester fans have fumed at Stephy Mavididi after his latest ineffective performance in their 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.
Leicester continued their unbeaten start to life under Gary Rowett with a draw away at Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Caleb Okoli gave the Foxes the lead in the 18th minute before Riley McGree levelled it for the hosts just before the interval, as both sides had chances to win it in the second half.
They remain in the bottom three of the second tier for now, one point behind managerless West Brom, but have shown clear signs of improvement since Rowett’s arrival.
The new Leicester manager put his faith in Mavididi to start on the left wing once more at the Riverside Stadium, but he failed to make a positive impression, as has happened so often this season.

Leicester fans slam Stephy Mavididi after ‘lazy’ showing vs Middlesbrough
Mavididi was a key man for Leicester as they were promoted to the Premier League in 2023-24, while he put in some decent performances last season despite their relegation back to the Championship.
The 27-year-old has failed to replicate his previous form this term, with just two goals and one assist in 29 league appearances prior to Tuesday’s game against Boro.
Rowett trusted him to start once more, but he lost the most duels in the match (12), failed to create a chance or take a shot on target and also lost possession 16 times.
He committed three fouls and was dribbled past on four separate occasions before being taken off for Joe Aribo in the 76th minute.
Many Foxes supporters took to X during and after the game to slam Mavididi, with one saying: “Get Mavididi off. Lazy and useless.”
While another added: “Don’t think I’ve seen a player look so less interested than Mavididi.”
And one fan said: “Rather play with 10 men than have Mavididi.”
Opta’s latest Championship relegation prediction makes encouraging reading for Leicester
Leicester fans will be more optimistic about their survival chances now that Rowett is at the helm, but they still have not won a league game since 6 January.
That was against their closest relegation rivals, West Brom, who will also surely be set to improve over the coming weeks and months now that the Eric Ramsay era is officially over.
According to Opta’s latest calculations, the Foxes are still less likely to be relegated, despite sitting in the bottom three, with a 28.52 per cent chance to the Baggies’ 51.74.
Rowett’s side face Norwich City at the King Power Stadium this Saturday, in what feels like a must-win game if they are to avoid dropping into League One.
