Leicester vs West Brom postponement latest after extensive snowfall across the Midlands
Leicester City’s clash with West Brom on Monday is in serious risk of postponement after a weather warning was issued.
Some are dubbing the match ‘El Sackico’, with Marti Cifuentes under serious pressure at Leicester and Ryan Mason not doing much better with the Baggies.
Both teams were expected to challenge for the play-off spots in the Championship this season, but neither team has found any consistency.
Football Insider revealed in December that West Brom are interested in appointing Michael Carrick to replace Mason.
And Carrick is the favourite to take over at Leicester, too, with Monday’s game set to be key in the race, should it go ahead.

Weather warnings pose risk to Leicester vs West Brom
Both Leicester and West Brom emerged on the losing end on New Year’s Day, further plunging the futures of their managers into doubt.
The Baggies were beaten 1-0 by Swansea City, after Jay Fulton found the net 16 minutes from time in Wales.
George Campbell and Nat Phillips had scored to hand Mason’s side a winning end to 2025 against QPR, but the former Tottenham coach has been plunged back into doubt by Thursday’s defeat.
It is a similar story for Leicester, who were convincingly beaten 3-1 by Sheffield United on New Year’s Day.
Japhet Tanganga, Thomas Cannon and Callum O’Hare found the net for the Blades, before Jordan James found a late consolation.
Like West Brom, Leicester had enjoyed an encouraging win at the end of December, but both managers will now be looking at Monday’s game with desperation.

There remains some doubt whether it will go ahead at all, however, after the Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice across the Midlands and engulfing the King Power Stadium.
What games have already been affected by snowfall?
Sunday saw three Championship games postponed due to freezing temperatures and snowfall. Sheffield United and Oxford United‘s clash with called off, as well as Portsmouth‘s meeting with Ipswich Town.
Prompting great anger, Hull City‘s game against Watford was postponed just 20 minutes before kick-off.
Although the pitch was deemed to be playable, the match was postponed due to unsafe sections of the ground surrounding the playing surface.
Watford made their thoughts on the decision clear in a post on social media, explaining that the Hornets “did not agree to the postponement.”
