Leighton Baines believes that his Everton team-mate Romelu Lukaku has already proved he is a top goalscorer.
The 23-year-old forward is regarded as the standout player at Goodison Park and has recently become the club’s all-time Premier League record scorer, with 61 goals in the division.
Lukaku moved to the Merseyside club in 2014 from Chelsea and has already struck 80 times across all competitions.
He has been one of the most prolific forwards in England during recent seasons and has been in decent form once again this term.
Everton defender Baines has praised the qualities of Lukaku and feels he has been immense during his time with the Toffees.
“It’s season after season with Romelu,” Baines told Sky Sports. “I think what he has proven is that he is a top level goalscorer in a top league in the world.
“He has proved that now on numerous occasions. He is going to guarantee you goals as long as he is fit and on the pitch. I think that is another thing he deserves a lot of credit for is the amount of football he has played for us over the last few years.”
Lukaku has played a major role behind Everton sitting seventh in the Premier League table this season as they chase a place in Europe for next season.
The Belgium international has already struck 19 goals across all competitions this season and is chasing down Tottenham’s Harry Kane for the golden boot.
He has become an integral part of Koeman’s squad and has managed to earn his side points single-handedly at times.
