Lennon Miller Exclusive: Celtic latest as giants ready £8m offer

Celtic target Lennon Miller is wanted by French giants Lyon as the race for his signature intensifies, sources have told Football Insider.

Motherwell star Miller, 18, is regarded as one of the best young prospects to emerge in Scotland in the last decade and interest in the attacking midfielder is sure to be high in this summer’s transfer window.

Lyon are ready to make an offer up to £8million in a bid to beat the likes of Celtic to Miller as they look to persuade Motherwell to cash-in on their prize asset.

The Scottish champions are long-term admirers of Miller and are expected to firm up their interest in the Scotland Under-21 international as they look to keep the player in his homeland.

Lyon prepare £8m bid for Celtic target Miller

Motherwell have already turned down multiple bids from Italian side Udinese and Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise in January transfer window.

Both clubs are expected to rekindle their pursuit of Miller in the summer, but there is expected to be major competition from a host of top clubs including Lyon and Celtic.

Scotland has produced some top young players in recent years with the likes of Ben Doak, Aaron Hickey and Billy Gilmour all commanding big fees – but Miller is regarded as being potentially even more valuable than those Scotland internationals.

Lyon have scouted Miller on several occasions this season and they see the 18-year-old as of one of best young talents in Europe who they could develop into a potential superstar who will only increase in value.

Motherwell are aware of the growing interest in Miller, but the Lanarkshire club would demand a record transfer fee to sell him this summer.

At just 18, the midfielder has already amassed 67 senior appearances for Motherwell – scoring five goals and providing nine assists.

Rodgers wants strong summer window at Celtic

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been placing pressure on the board recently with public comments about wanting a more competitive squad to push the club further in the Champions League.

Kieran Tierney has already agreed a summer return to Parkhead and will be Celtic’s highest-paid player when he joins the club.

Celtic’s pre-tax profit increased to almost £44million in the first half of the 2024-25 financial year, bolstering the club’s financial position.

The Glasgow giants sit top of the Scottish Premiership and are on course to win a domestic treble this term.
