Leny Yoro sends message to Man United fans after ‘discovery’

Man United defender Leny Yoro has taken to social media to express his disappointment after their 3-2 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday (December 7).

The 19-year-old made his first Man United start in the defeat to Forest after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.

Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic opened the scoring to put the visitors ahead after just two minutes, the third consecutive corner goal United conceded.

Ruben Amorim’s side equalized soon after through Rasmus Hojlund, who capitalised on Mats Sels’ save from Alejandro Garnacho’s initial shot, slotting the rebound into the net.

Morgan Gibbs-White then restored Forest’s lead almost immediately after the break before Chris Wood made it 3-1 with his tenth goal of the season.

Bruno Fernandes scored just after the hour mark but it turned out to be nothing more than a consolation as Ruben Amorim suffered his second consecutive defeat as the new Man United manager.

Yoro missed United’s first 21 games across all competitions after picking up an Achilles tendon injury in their 2-1 pre-season defeat to Arsenal.

The young centre-back has seen three managers in his six months at the club, starting one of his two appearances, yielding a total of 97 minutes of action.

Clearly frustrated by the result, Yoro took to Instagram to mark the occasion and pay his respects to long-serving and beloved club receptionist Kath Phipps who passed away on Thursday (December 5).

Yoro’s caption said: “Discovering Old Trafford was a special moment, but it’s not the result we hoped for. We must keep our heads up and keep working. Our thoughts are with Kath and her family.”

United return to action in midweek as they travel to Czechia to face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday (December 12).
