Leon Bailey: Aston Villa injury update from expert

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey could be set to return in the club’s Champions League game against Young Boys on Tuesday (September 17).

According to injury expert Ben Dinnery, the 27-year-old has been included in Villa’s traveling squad to Switzerland.

Bailey has been out of action after being forced off with a hamstring injury in Villa’s 2-1 win over Leicester City back in August.

Unai Emery has had to call on captain John McGinn to fill in for the right-winger with the Scotsman successfully completing 100 per cent of his dribbles in their 3-2 comeback win over Everton on Saturday.

Villa’s trip to Switzerland marks their first appearance in Europe’s elite competition since 1982-83 where they were knocked out of the old European Cup by Italian giants Juventus.

The Jamaica international has finally found his feet at Villa under Unai Emery, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last season.

In his two years at the club before that, he had only managed 12 goal contributions over 56 appearances, failing to live up to the hype that surrounded him following his move from Bayer Leverkusen.
