Levi Colwill sends message to Chelsea fans after major development
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has taken to social media to express his pride after making his 50th appearance for the club.
The 21-year-old was powerless to stop that 50th appearance turning into a shock 2-0 defeat to Ipswich, however, with goals coming from Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson.
Delap opened the scoring with a controversial penalty having gone down from minimal contact from Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Joao Felix thought he bagged the equaliser at Portman Road but his goal was ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR intervention.
Former Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson then came back to haunt his old club, doubling Ipswich’s lead and securing their first home victory of the season.
The defeat saw Chelsea fall to fourth, just three points off Eddie Howe’s impressive Newcastle side following their 2-0 win over Man United.
Levi Colwill a key player as Chelsea hit a bump in the road at the end of 2024
The young defender, who came through Chelsea’s famed youth set-up, has been key for Enzo Maresca so far this season, starting all 18 of his games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing one assist in his 1620 minutes of action.
Clearly delighted with his latest achievement at his boyhood club, Colwill took to Instagram to share an image originally posted by Chelsea’s official account, simply saying: “Proud.”

Colwill is doubtless hoping his 51st appearance will be a win as Chelsea travel to South London to face Crystal Palace in their first game of 2025 on Saturday (January 4).
Chelsea will then host League Two Morecombe in their first FA Cup game of the season as Maresca seeks to win the first piece of silverware under the Todd Boehly regime.
