Levy keen to seal this Tottenham deal fast – report
By Harry Sykes
Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is keen to thrash out the future of the club’s outgoing recruitment guru Paul Mitchell, according to a report.
The Sun claim Spurs “will soon sort out” the Mitchell situation and that club chairman Levy wants it “resolved fast”.
It is said that Levy, who has ultimate responsibility for negotiating transfers and contracts at White Hart Lane, wants a deal sealed for Mitchell’s exit.
The Sun report the long-standing Spurs chairman also wants to release veteran senior scout Ian Broomfield in a major overhaul of the club’s recruitment operation.
Mitchell resigned from his post in August amid reports that he had fallen out with chairman Levy over a number of summer transfer targets.
The recruitment chief has continued in the post at White Hart Lane due to a lengthy notice period that runs until later this year.
The 34-year-old has been linked to a move to French club Marseille.
Since taking over as manager of Tottenham in May 2014, Mauricio Pochettino has overseen the signings of 17 new senior players during five windows.
Some of those have been great successes, including the likes of Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.
However, others have not fared so well, with Moussa Sissoko, Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou all failing to fire since moving for big fees last summer.
The latter trio all figured for Tottenham on Saturday as they came from two goals down to beat League Two side Wycombe 4-3 in the FA Cup.
