Lewis Dunk sends message to Brighton fans after ‘big’ development

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk has taken to social media to apologise to the fans after their 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday (December 8).

The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side as Brighton threw away a two-goal lead in the final five minutes of the game.

Tariq Lamptey put the visitors ahead just after the half-hour mark with a long-range looping effort over Mads Hermansen in the Leicester goal.

Yankuba Minteh thought he’d earned Brighton their first-ever Premier League win at the King Power Stadium after turning Victor Kristiansen inside out before cooly slotting home to double their lead in the 79th minute.

Jamie Vardy had other ideas, however, getting one back in the 86th minute before setting up teammate Bobby De Cordova-Reid to snatch a valuable point in added time.

Lewis Dunk making “no excuses” after a frustrating evening for Brighton at Leicester

Dunk is yet to feature outside of the Premier League for Brighton this season, starting 10 of his eleven league appearances, yielding a total of 904 minutes of action.

Clearly frustrated by his side’s inability to keep a two-goal lead, Dunk took to Instagram after the game, saying: “No excuses after that, we had to get over the line. Big week of work ahead now.”

Fabian Hurzeler’s side are now without a win in their last three Premier League games as they fall below Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification.

Brighton host Crystal Palace in the ‘A23 Derby’ on Sunday (December 15) as they hope to bounce back against their biggest rivals.
