Lewis family told to complete two ‘big’ Tottenham signings – ‘just what Thomas Frank needs’

Tottenham still need to add more players to their squad if they are to show that they support manager Thomas Frank.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who still thinks Frank is the “right guy to back” at Spurs.

Frank is under huge pressure at Spurs to turn their season around, with the north London club 14th in the Premier League table.

Andy Robertson could join Spurs from Liverpool, with the club’s only major signing so far in January being midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Tottenham need a ‘couple more players’ in January

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is continuing to back Frank to come good at Spurs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Spurs still have more work to do in the January window.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Absolutely, I have been the lone voice in the wilderness, as you know, saying support Thomas Frank. The turnaround in Spurs goes beyond him and above higher than him.

The Lewis family have got to show they can be a calm hand on the tiller. Frank is the right guy to back. They’ve got to back him and see what they can bring in. I still would have hoped they could have been more active than they have been.

I think Gallagher is a good signing, but I think there’s more to be done. I hope they can get the Andy Robertson thing over the line. I think that would be a big addition for them, and we’ll see if that can happen. But yes, I think another couple of players, at least, and that would be a big sign they are going to back him.

“And that’s what’s needed at Spurs right now is calm heads and a bit of support for Frank. And let’s just carry on going, and he’ll bring it round. I know he will.”

Tottenham form concerning hierarchy

Spurs could be forced to sack Frank if they are dragged into a relegation battle, with just eight points separating them and 18th-placed West Ham.

West Ham have won their last two matches, and Spurs are facing a tough set of fixtures in February against the likes of Man City and Arsenal.

Spurs’ poor Premier League form is in stark contrast to that in the Champions League, where Frank’s side finished fourth in the league phase table.
