Liam Delap, Moises Caicedo react to Ipswich ace Julio Enciso’s heartfelt message

Moises Caicedo and in-demand Liam Delap reacted to a message from Ipswich star Julio Enciso on social media.

The 21-year-old Paraguayan joined Ipswich on-loan in January, in an effort to play more first-team Premier League football and to add fire-power to the Tractor Boys’ front-line.

Ipswich’s second-highest goal-scorer this season, Sammie Szmodics, will miss the rest of the campaign after undergoing surgery, leaving Newcastle transfer target Delap as the only player with more than three goals in the squad this season.

The lack of firepower aside from their star striker has hurt the Tractor Boys this season, who now sit nine points behind Wolves and seem destined for relegation.

Julio Enciso praises ‘incredible effort’ after Colombia draw

Whilst Enciso has been unable to find the net since joining Ipswich in January, the versatile forward was able to score in a 2-2 draw with Colombia.

Following a 1-0 win over Chile last Friday (21 March), Paraguay are in a strong position to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America.

The 21-year-old posted a plethora of photos to Instagram after the draw, captioned: “Esfuerzo increíble de todos gracias Dios por este momento tan hermoso. Dedico a mi familia a mi novia gracias por ese apoyo incondicional y a toda la gente de Paraguay ¡vamos luchando por ese sueño que tenemos todos!”

Which translates to: “Incredible effort from everyone, thank you God for this beautiful moment. I dedicate to my family, to my girlfriend, thank you for that unconditional support and to all the people of Paraguay, let’s fight for that dream that we all have!”

The post was liked by current teammate, Delap, and Enciso’s former Brighton teammate Caicedo.

Ipswich set to cash-in on Liam Delap ahead of summer rebuild

Football Insider Verdict

In spite of the fact that Ipswich seem destined for relegation, the club have set themselves up in a financially strong position.

The boost from Premier League revenue, coupled with the sale of Delap this summer will allow them to improve their squad as a whole, with a view to challenging for promotion from the Championship next season.

Delap is wanted by a host of clubs, including Newcastle, Man City, Man United, and Chelsea, and the interest only serves to boost the fee the Tractor Boys can expect to receive.

Whilst losing their star striker will be a blow, retaining the services of Kieran McKenna next year will be vitally important, after the manager masterminded back-to-back promotions, from League One to the Premier League.

Prior to the start of the season, the 38-year-old was linked with the Man United, Chelsea, and Brighton jobs, but chose to remain at Portman Road.
