Liam Delap, Neco Williams react to Harvey Elliott as Liverpool exit rumours swirl

Harvey Elliott gained the attention of several Premier League stars as speculation continues over the midfielder’s future at Liverpool.

The 22-year-old is currently away with Lee Carsley‘s England Under-21s, even scoring the opener in the Three Lions’ 3-1 victory over Czechia on Thursday, 12 June.

Despite being a regular for the U21s, the playmaker has been regularly overlooked at Anfield this season, only starting two Premier League matches under Arne Slot’s reign.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch are all preferred in the centre of midfield, and now, Football Insider understands that Elliot is likely to join a Serie A club if he is to leave Liverpool.

He has made a total of 147 senior appearances for the Reds since making the move from Fulham in the summer of 2019, but the 22-year-old may now have played his final game at Anfield.

Taking to Instagram (13 June), Elliott shared an image of his celebrations against Czechia Under-21s, simply captioned with crossed fingers in anticipation of the rest of the tournament.

As well as gaining likes from teammates Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Szoboszlai, and Jarell Quansah, Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams and Chelsea’s Liam Delap also joined.

Arne Slot to make cut-throat decisions at Anfield this summer

Football Insider verdict

The Dutchman lifted the Premier League title during his first season in England, but after falling short in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, supporters were left wanting far more from the team.

Having evolved and developed under Jurgen Klopp, the change of manager signifies a new era for the Merseyside club, and Slot must make changes to the squad to fit his playing style.

Business has already begun at Anfield, with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, though Ian Darke, speaking to Liverpool News 247 (2 June) that a starting spot would not be guaranteed for the new player.

Football Insider also understands that Liverpool could see an offer of £75million accepted for Anthony Gordon, with the winger continuing to be linked with an exit from Newcastle United.

This would likely mean the end of someone’s time at Anfield, with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota’s future all uncertain ahead of the 2025/26 campaign kicking off.

Slot has some very difficult decisions to make over the coming weeks, with several high-profile names linked with exits, and fans need to expect a much-changed starting lineup from what they saw last term.
