Liam Delap set for Man City exit after journalist’s update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has suggested Liam Delap won’t get a game for Man City next season after the arrival of Erling Haaland.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider. the ex-West Ham striker said that Delap should “be concerned” about his position in the squad.
On Wednesday (13 July), journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that City are prepared to let the 19-year-old leave the club in the coming weeks.
Burnley and Southampton are said to be interested in a deal for the striker.
The England youth international has four years left on his contract at the Etihad and spent last season playing for Man City’s under-23 team.
McAvennie insisted that Delap should have been playing for the senior team last season, especially when they played without a striker.
“I don’t know why, if he’s that good a striker and spoken so highly of, he didn’t get a game,” he told Football Insider.
“They played so many games last year without a striker.
“You’re not getting in the team now that Haaland’s there.
“I would be a bit concerned for myself if I was in that team, I’d be wondering why, if I’m supposed to be a good striker, why he wasn’t playing me.
“I’d have left before now. I’d have been knocking on Pep’s [Guardiola] door before now.“

Delap made five appearances for Guardiola’s side last season, including once in the Premier League and once in the Champions League.
The forward also featured in ten games for the under-23s, scoring 8 goals and providing two assists.
