Liam Delap to Man City: Stefan Borson drops strong transfer verdict
Ipswich Town star Liam Delap could return to Manchester City if they decide to activate his release clause this summer.
The 22-year-old joined Kieran McKenna’s side last summer in a £20million deal after seeing his opportunities limited at the Etihad.
Delap will be available for £30million in the upcoming transfer window if Ipswich are relegated to the Championship this season.
They currently sit third-bottom in the Premier League table, 14 points behind fourth-bottom West Ham heading into the final few weeks of the season.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Pep Guardiola’s side should re-sign Delap this summer.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also racing to sign Delap as they look to add to their attacking options.
The forward has registered 12 goals and two assists in 33 appearances for Ipswich this season.

Man City could land £10m Liam Delap profit
Borson revealed Man City could make a £10million profit on Delap even if they don’t re-sign him due to their 20 per cent sell-on clause.
He told Football Insider: “Logically, to me City should just sign him and that would be that.
“Then they’ll decide what to do with him over the medium term. I think he can play. I think City are short in that position as has been exposed by the injury to Haaland, so I think he could play many games next season. City have got a lot of games as usual.
“They may not have Champions League but would probably have Europa if they don’t get Champions League. They have got the Club World Cup, so if it was a deal that could be done at or close to the end of the season, he could potentially also take part there.
“There is a lot of sense for him to come to City and be part of the first-team squad, but it’s very hard for City to lose.
“If you re-sign him for £30million and you’ve got five to 10 other teams interested, you can’t lose money on the deal because either you use him yourself or if it doesn’t work out, you just know that other people are going to be buying him.
“The interest of other clubs is going to be there in a year’s time or in 18 months’ time. That’s what I would do, but it’s not always that easy.
“The player might have strong views and City might just think there’s no prospects in playing and, therefore, we should just take the money and make the money on the difference between the sell-on and the release clause that they can get him at and know net-net they’ll still make their £10million.
“Whether it’s about a sale to somebody for £50million, where City take £10million or whether it’s buying him for £30million and selling him reluctantly for £40million in a year’s time.
“I would expect City to be thinking about it, but they’re well aware of the opportunity. They don’t need any commentators to be explaining what the dynamic is.
“But if it was up to me, I would take him back and then make the decision.”

Man City told to pay £50m to sign Hugo Larsson
Football Insider revealed on 6 April Man City will have to pay up to £50million for Hugo Larsson this summer after inadvertently driving up his asking price.
Sources say that having already received £59million from Man City for Omar Marmoush in January, Eintracht Frankfurt won’t be an easy club to deal with this summer.
Larsson’s form for the Bundesliga outfit has alerted Guardiola’s side ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
