'Like It' - Exclusive: Bent excited by Aston Villa transfer update via the Athletic
Bournemouth winger David Brooks would be another exciting signing for Aston Villa this summer, according to Darren Bent.
The former Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, believes the Cherries star is exactly the sort of “young, hungry” talent Dean Smith wants to add to his squad after the Villans’ recent transfer business.
As reported by the Athletic, Villa have set their sights on a summer move for the 23-year-old if Bournemouth fail to seal promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The Cherries currently sit sixth in the second-tier table, 11 points off table-toppers Norwich City, four off second-placed Swansea City and three ahead of seventh-placed Middlesbrough.
Villa meanwhile have been flying since narrowly escaping relegation last season and sit eighth in the top-flight.
Bent believes that while Brooks might not have hit the expected heights in the Championship, he is the exact mould of player Villa are looking for.

Bent told Football Insider: “I like David Brooks, he’s a good player, he’s a good, good young player.
“He maybe hasn’t had the impact in the Championship that I would have liked this season, I thought maybe he would have had more of an impact on them but listen, we know how much of a good player he is and how important he is to that Bournemouth team.
“If Aston Villa can add that addition to what he’s (Smith) is doing, where he’s adding young, hungry players, I really like that aspect. You start looking through the spine of Aston Villa’s team – Martinez, Mings, John McGinn, Grealish, Barkley Watkins…”
Brooks has scored three goals and contributed a further five assists in 19 Championship appearances this season.
The 12-cap Wales international has a total of 39 Premier League games under his belt, with eight goals and five assists to his name.
